Great tips for photographing people
Sure you can spend a lot of your photographic energy worrying about the technology – your lenses, your mobile broadband providers, your dark room set upbut what about just taking great pictures? Here are a few tips for getting the most out of your photos of people
Candid, Candid, Candid: There’s never a more natural, aesthetically pleasing photo than that of a candid. People won’t be as rigid and you’ll likely be able to catch them in a way that’s new to them and yourself – brilliant!
Don’t Fill the Frame: Contrary to popular photography wisdom, when you’re taking photos of people it may be best not to fill the frame. Use your subject as an anchor on one side and get the background but don’t get too far away – you want to recognize the person.
Movement: If you’ve got the skill, play with movement. It’s best to have your subject stable while the background is in motion so think about placing your subject in front of a busy highway or an amusement park ride. You’ll have to play with frames and shutter speed here.
